Motorsport in the Cayman Islands continues to grow under the leadership of the Cayman Motoring Federation (CMF), the country’s FIA-recognised national sporting authority. Through initiatives such as the National Auto Slalom League, CMF is creating structured, accessible and safe opportunities for grassroots motorsport participation.
What is Auto Slalom?
Auto Slalom is a precision-based motorsport where drivers navigate a timed cone course, focusing on control, accuracy and consistency rather than speed. Held in controlled environments, it is one of the safest and most beginner-friendly forms of motorsport.
The Auto Slalom League
The league is Cayman’s first national auto slalom championship, featuring a six-race series held throughout the year. Drivers compete individually, earning points at each event, with overall champions crowned in December. Participants can enter single events or compete across the full season.
2026 Season Highlights
The inaugural event took place in April 2026, showcasing strong local interest and competitive driving across Stock and Modified categories. The league continues with events scheduled on:

- July 12
- August 10
- September 20
- October 25
Championship
Championship points are awarded at each event based on finishing position within each competition class. Drivers earn 25 points for first place, 18 for second, 15 for third, 12 for fourth and 10 for fifth, with points accumulating throughout the season to determine the overall class champions. The league features separate championships for the Stock, Modified and Heavy classes, ensuring fair competition between comparable vehicles. As the season progresses, every event becomes increasingly important, with competitors battling for valuable championship points and national honours in the Cayman Motoring Federation Auto Slalom League.
Safe, Structured & Inclusive
All events follow FIA-aligned regulations and are supported by trained marshals, ensuring a safe and professionally run environment. The league is open to licensed drivers aged 17+, with a focus on developing advanced driving skills and promoting road safety.
Inclusivity is also a priority, with initiatives such as a Most Improved Female Driver award encouraging wider participation.
Building Safer Drivers and Safer Roads
Auto Slalom is designed to improve driving skills in a safe, controlled environment away from public roads. Drivers navigate a temporary cone course that challenges precision, vehicle control, braking, acceleration and cornering techniques rather than outright speed.
By learning how their vehicles respond under different driving conditions, participants develop skills that transfer directly to everyday driving. This helps build greater confidence, improved hazard awareness and better decision-making behind the wheel.
A Growing Motorsport Scene
The Cayman Motoring Federation (CMF), the FIA-recognised governing body for motorsport in the Cayman Islands, is creating a broader pathway for participation, education and development across multiple disciplines. Opportunities include the National Auto Slalom League, esports, STEM Racing supported by Formula 1®, drag racing, and a new karting programme being developed for 2027.
Motorsport esports is also expanding locally, supported by two new entertainment venues, The Matrix and Cayman Autosport, which offer more opportunities for people to experience competitive racing in a safe and accessible environment.
Together, these initiatives demonstrate CMF’s commitment to developing motorsport at every level, from students and first-time participants to aspiring competitors, while building a safe, sustainable and community-driven motorsport culture.
