From football/soccer to flag football and gaelic football there are a variety of football teams, leagues and associations that are welcoming of newcomers.
Cayman Islands Flag Football Association (CIFFA) hosts its Summer Premier League, which consists of men’s and women’s teams from July-September with games being played on Saturdays at the Ed Bush Sports Complex in West Bay. Their co-ed league plays on Fridays at the Ed Bush Sports Complex during the months of February-May. New players are always welcomed and encouraged to participate in the Development League which runs in conjunction with the Summer Premier League on Monday nights at the Timothy McField Football Field. Cayman Islands Gaelic Football Club (CIGFC)
Gaelic football is a very popular sport in the Cayman Islands and the club welcomes players of all skill levels. There are six ladies’ and six mens’ teams. Games are played at the Camana Bay Sports Complex and the season runs from January through June. There is also a Mixed 9s’ tournament in January, a St. Paddy’s Day Exhibition Game in March and the Finals Day held in June. In September, the national teams compete in the USGAA Finals. The Sunday Football League is comprised of eight football teams playing each other three times, for a total of 21 league games throughout the season, which commences on the first Sunday in October and finishes at the start of May the following year. There are roughly 150 players participating each week. The teams also compete in a knock-out competition, the Cayman Physiotherapy Cup, with the final being played in mid-May. The Sunday League teams are always on the lookout for new players, but there is a transfer deadline of 31st January each year. King’s Sports Centre offers indoor five-a-side football.
