Despite setbacks over the past year, 2021 brought a lot of excitement to the Cayman Islands sporting community, locally and on the world stage. In July 2021, five Caymanian athletes represented the Cayman Islands at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Brett Fraser and Jillian Crooks competed in swimming, Kemar Hyman and Shalysa Wray in athletics and Reagan Rutty was the first to represent the Cayman Islands at the Olympic Games in gymnastics. Around the same time, the National Senior Women's football team competed and won the 2021 Turks and Caicos Women's Football Festival. On-Island, Cayman's famous open water sea swim, The Flowers Sea Swim, celebrated its 29th year. The Walkers Marathon will take place on December 5th 2021.
