Food & wine societies are quite similar to social clubs. They are a way to broaden your social lives and meet new, likeminded people in Cayman.
Below are two well known food organisations. While very welcoming, they may require new members to be recommended by an existing member.
International Wine & Food Society (IWFS)
Cayman’s branch of the IWFS was first chartered in 1987 and they now
have just over 100 members. They host between six and eight events a
year, including wine tastings, dinners with special menus at local
restaurants and cooking demonstrations. They also have a wine inventory
that allows members to enjoy wines not readily available in Cayman.
Membership is by invitation from another member only. Visit www.iwfs.org/americas/cayman-islands or see the Society’s FaceBook page.
Slow Food South Sound
Cayman’s chapter of this international culinary group based in Italy
promotes the use of local and sustainable food, the preservation of
local food cultures and the enjoyment of dining in a convivial setting.
The group has over 10 events per year. Annual events include Slow Food
Day, Terra Madre (Mother Earth) Day and Slow Food Culinary Week. Email: slowfoodcayman@gmail.com for information.
