Most high schools and some church youth groups provide opportunities for taking part in dramatic presentations. Cayman also has a thriving theatre community and acting classes are readily available.
Budding young actors, actresses and theatre lovers are welcome to further develop their acting skills in weekly acting classes at the Cayman Drama Society (CDS). With four to six productions per year, there is plenty of scope for young would-be thespians to also get involved in productions. Students learn stage management, set design, construction, sound and lighting, as well as theatrical make-up. They offer weekly classes for ages 5-16 years where they teach and practice acting, voice work, performance skills and improvisation alongside regular script studies and performances. They have something for everyone and even run summer camps ending with a polished performance on the Playhouse Stage. For more information email: firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.cds.ky.
The Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF), Young At Arts Summer Arts Camp, offers young people (ages 6 to 16 years) an introduction to performing storytelling, folk songs and dance, and instruction in traditional Caymanian crafts and games, as well as day trips. For more information call (345) 949 5477, email: email@example.com or visit www.artscayman.org.
