Boarding Schools

The Vanguard School is an independent, co-educational boarding school and day school for students who learn differently. They prohibit all forms of discrimination in admission or access to their employment/schooling on the basis of: marital status, age, religion, disability, genetic information, gender identity, or any other characteristic prohibited by law. The school is located in Lake Wales, Florida, which is approximately two hours away from the Cayman Islands by plane.
Since opening their doors in 1966, they have educated students in an environment that acknowledges their differences, celebrates their strengths, and supports them in overcoming individual challenges. They specialise in helping students who experience ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and High Functioning Autism (Asperger’s), excel to their fullest potential based on their Core Values Leadership system.
Curriculum: Individually prepare students for life after high school. They offer skill remediation, modified curriculum, credit retrieval, dual enrollment, and a targeted learning path for each student.
Specialty Curriculum: Intensive Reading and Maths, and Personal Communication Skills.

Facilities: Classrooms, newly renovated Student Centre, Performing Arts Center, Dining Hall, Male and Female Dormitories, on-site Infirmary with quarantine rooms, Science and Culinary Laboratory Building, Gymnasium, Fitness Center, soccer field, tennis courts, and outdoor pool on their 77-acre campus.
Boarding Facilities: Two students per room maximum. Boys’ dormitories offer privacy walls in each room, privacy stalls in the shower room, open air back porches, and direct access to an outdoor basketball court. The female dormitories offer comfortable home-style living with private bathrooms, a screened in back porch, and scenic views. All dormitories are air-conditioned, with Wi-Fi, secured room access, and security cameras in the common areas. They also offer a licensed mental health counselor and weekly on-campus or secured video chat psychologist visits.
Meals: Meals are either hot and cold and can be catered to vegetarians and anyone with an allergy including being tree nut free, gluten free, lactose free and more.
Sports: They offer basketball, tennis, swimming, cross country, track & field, weightlifting, archery, and golf.
Amenities: Swimming pool, gymnasium, fitness center, equine therapy, intramural/competitive sports, targeted life skills groups, culinary lab, lake access for canoeing/fishing, auditorium, team building, sensory room, therapeutic coordination, and active engagement Student Center.
