Although not a big wave destination, Cayman has some decent surfing spots to choose from.
Good swells are generated off of Seven Mile Beach from December to March, when Nor’westers blow through.
From June to November, the best surf is usually found at Surfers Beach beside South Sound Community Centre and Mariners Cove in Spotts. Beginners would be well advised to avoid these locations, as the iron shore, coral and sea urchins can prove hazardous.
Often at Mariners Cove (Spotts), the current is very dangerous, and the waves almost too rough to surf on. Those surfing here should be experienced surfers and very strong swimmers. Make sure to check the weather forecast before heading out. It is always wise to surf with friends, or have someone on the beach watching you.
