Boat tours are a great way to get out on the water for a reasonable price, however you will have to follow a set itinerary and you will be accompanied by others who are not in your group.
Numerous companies offer North Sound boat and snorkelling trips, either for a half-day or a full-day.
Half-day trips usually include stops at the Sandbar to feed the stingrays and a stop at the Coral Gardens and the reef to snorkel. Full-day trips with a local boat operator include all the stops as mentioned above but also include conch hunting (when in season) which they will then marinate and serve on-board, and a delicious local seafood lunch either cooked and served on-board the boat or on the beach at Cayman Kai.
Note that during the week boat tours are often busy with tourists and cruise shippers. If you want a quieter trip, ask if they have a smaller boat and specify that you don’t want to join a ‘cattle’ boat!
