About Saint Mary’s School
Founded in 1842, Saint Mary's is an independent, Episcopal, college-preparatory, boarding and day school dedicated to academic excellence and personal achievement for girls.
Curriculum: College preparatory curriculum that includes 18 Advanced Placement courses, a full complement of honor courses, a comprehensive fine arts program, competition in 11 sports, leadership education, advising, and co-curricular programs, a wireless campus, and one-to-one convertible laptop program. In addition, the school draws on its downtown Raleigh location to integrate real-world learning experiences through partnerships with area educational and business organizations.
Facilities: The school's historic 23-acre campus is within easy driving distance of world-renowned Research Triangle Park and the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The campus includes dedicated buildings and spaces for learning, study, and recreation including science labs, classrooms, newly renovated library, art studios, practice rooms, dance studios, and athletics facilities (including gymnasium, pool, playing fields, tennis courts, fitness room). The campus also has a historic chapel, dining hall, and auditorium.
Boarding Facilities: There are three residence halls, each with residential faculty apartments, student lounges, laundry facilities, and secure key-code access. There is a student centre on campus with lounges, kitchen area, game room, mail room and the school store. The campus is gated with 24/7 on-campus security.
Extra-curricular Activities: Student Government Association; theatrical and musical student performances; 11 sports; over 20 clubs including the Environmental, Photography, Scuba, Youth Fair Trade, and Science Olympiad Clubs to name a few. The school’s location in downtown Raleigh, provides opportunities for students to access arts, culture, and history both independently and as part of school-sponsored weekend activities. Community service opportunities are also offered.
