To understand why recycling in Cayman is so vital to the overall health of the country, read about the current situation at Grand Cayman’s landfill. Trust us, this section will make you want to do all you can to help make Cayman greener.
With the country being so small, the local community can really make a difference when it comes to protecting the health of the country’s environment. Read more about Cayman's Green Community if you want to get more actively involved. Or learn more about the ‘refuse, reduce, reuse and recycling’ mindset!
You can also contact the Department of Environmental Health for more information on what the government is doing to make recycling a priority in Cayman.
Recycling Centres
Residents can deposit recyclable items at the 24-hour drop-off site located at the front of the George Town landfill. There is no fee for this service and assistance is provided during regular business hours.
Recyclables in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are safely stored at
their respective landfills until arrangements are made for shipping to
Grand Cayman for further processing. Once at the recycling facility at
the George Town landfill, recyclables are sorted, processed and baled
for shipment to recycling plants in the US.
