Across all three Islands, government primary and secondary schools accept students based on catchment areas.
When it comes time to enroll your child for a Government school, you have to take all your paperwork to the Department of Education Services, 130 Thomas Russell Way, George Town, Grand Cayman or if you are in Cayman Brac then you need to go to the Cayman Brac Teacher's Centre. The registration period is between end of the Easter holidays and before the end of the school year (early July). To ensure that the Department of Education has assigned your child to the right school based on catchment areas, parents need to supply two forms of proof of your address, for example, by presenting a water/electricity bill and a notarised letter from your landlord (if renting) or proof that you own the property. You also need to present your completed application form, a copy of your child's birth certificate, immunisation card and a document (usually a passport or Status letter) showing the child's residency category. Priority for Government schools is always given to Caymanians/Status holders first.
