Honduras is a vibrant country with clear turquoise waters, beautiful beaches, breathtaking mountains and lush jungles – it’s no wonder it’s known as the centrepiece of Central America.
Delve into the fascinating ancient Mayan ruins of Copan, a UNESCO designated site – then enjoy inexpensive scuba diving, white water rafting, zip lining, bird watching and mountain treks.
It is worth noting that Honduras is a developing country with a lot of poverty and most accommodation options are rustic. We do, however, recommend checking out the breathtaking Pico Bonita National Park and staying at Pico Bonito Lodge, which has been voted one of the top eco-lodges in the world. There are also options for yoga retreats.
The Bay Islands are also incredible and Utila is renowned for year-round sightings of Whale Sharks – you can even snorkel or dive with these awesome creatures. Roatán is one of the Caribbean Bay Islands of Honduras and forms part of the large Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. Roatán is well known for its pristine beaches, world-class dive sites and rich marine life.
It is worth noting that since August 2024, UK citizens are required to obtain a visa to travel to Honduras, however, this doesn’t apply to British nationals living in the Cayman Islands. British expats will simply need to show proof that they are domiciled in the Cayman Islands.
