Supporting Autistic Students Without Encouraging Masking by KidsAbility

Join the KidsAbility Paediatric Therapy Clinic for an engaging workshop, “Supporting Autistic Students Without Encouraging Masking,” presented by Cynthia Rowe, Speech Language Pathologist and Clinical Supervisor.
The event takes place on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at KidsAbility, 8 Midtown Plaza, 273 Elgin Avenue, George Town.
This free session explores how autistic students may hide their true selves to fit in—a process known as masking—and how this affects their well-being. Attendees will learn to recognise masking, understand its causes, and discover inclusive strategies that promote authenticity, confidence, and connection.
The workshop also introduces the “double empathy problem,” highlighting ways to improve mutual understanding and communication between autistic and non-autistic individuals.
Ideal for parents, teachers, learning support staff, and allied health professionals, this session offers practical insights and tools to foster genuine belonging in classrooms and homes.
