Neurologists and Neurosurgeons
You might need to see a Neurologist if you are suffering from unexplained headaches, dizziness, seizures, stroke, autoimmune disorders, coordination problems or muscle weakness. Neurologists often work closely with Neurosurgeons, but it is the Neurosurgeons who perform surgery.
A Neurosurgeon is a doctor specialising in the diagnosis and Surgical treatment of disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system, including congenital anomalies, trauma, tumours, vascular disorders, infections of the brain or spine, stroke, or degenerative diseases of the spine.
See also our section on Physical Rehabilitation for Physiatrists who specialise in non-surgical treatment.
